FishKeep.Net

Another cool fishing site I've just come across is www.fishkeep.net.

This is looking to build a fishing community, with venues that can be rated, articles, forum, and the ability for members to have their own blog!

Aside from that there's a good amount of fishing content there, with some good articles and interesting carp and trout fishing venues, which seem to be from around the country, rather than just centralized in one area as is often the case.

The ’Poons of Spring by Capt Jack Teague

Posted by: fishingfan on Monday, March 01, 2010 (18:26:03)
This time of year brings the return of the tarpon

After a brutal, lingering January that inspired enormous — perhaps historic — fish kills in South Florida and particularly in the Florida Keys, it may be difficult to imagine that the beginning of the annual spring tarpon migration into the Keys is just around the corner.

Indeed, it remains to be seen just how the early winter’s record cold temps will impact 2010’s seasonal tarpon movement. Because of the fish kill, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission issued an executive order in mid-January prohibiting the harvest of tarpon, bonefishand snook. Under normal circumstances, harvesting a tarpon requires a $50 tag fromthe state, and any individual angler is allowed no more than two tags per y e a r .However, anglers typically don’t take tarpon unless they have a strong suspicion the specimen may set a catch record.   read more ...
