Broome Angling Society
Broome Angling Society in Leicestershire England is the website up for review this week.

The website is really well laid out with a nice and easy button navigation system and a useful update list on the main page.

One of the nice touches about this club website is the who s who page, which not only lists the people involved with the club but puts faces to names in many cases with a photo. I thought this along with the good sense of humour shown around the site makes a really welcoming site for the new visitor and if I lived around the area would make me interested in joining this club.

The site has a seperate junior section with it s own news, matches and gallery pages. Also in the junior section is a features page with some tips on rod tying and a fairly amusing tale in the months tip (Monster of Mayhem).

The club seems to have a good deal of matches for people interested in this side of the sport, and the site lists these along with a results page so you can check who s won what.

Another good point on the site, and something that s not often seen on club websites (I think there s still some reluctance with some club members in detailing there waters, but if you re after new members - it s this information that s going to be fairly important to them) is the photo s and detailed information on the clubs waters. I also enjoyed the My evening at Syston...Mal Picker story on these pages, worth a look if even only for the tag line.....

The site also features weather reports, guestbook and classifieds along with species descriptions and joining instructions, gallery etc.

If I m to find a fault with the site the only things I noticed was that some of the full size images could have been optimized for file size in the gallery making them bigger than perhaps they need to be. But then again if you re clicking on the individual picture you probably want to see it at it s best.
The remaining criticism is one that can be seen on several sites using free remotely hosted scripts, and the penalty with these is the pop-up adds, but this is only a very minor niggle.

I also have a suggestion for the site as the only missing thing on the site I could see was reports on how the waters are currently fishing ( or did I miss this amongst the wealth of other information!).

Fishing Fan s Overall Verdict 9/10
Great coarse fishing club website, an example to other fishing clubs on what can be done.
