Dave Lowtans Fish & Tips Type of Site: Personal

Dave s fishing site is mainly about fly fishing and is an excellent example of a personal fishing website.

The first thing that struck me about Dave s site was that it looked great. The first page loads with an excellent waterfall feature on the left side of the page and below the introduction there s some navigation buttons that have a good water effect when the mouse is rolled over them. The has some nice photos used in context with the pages they are used in to give you an idea of venues etc, plus some great quotes from books, and articles ( including one on a record equalling fish Dave caught himself )

The site is not just pretty pictures, and good layout though, there s some sound fishing tips and advice on his pages, and info on how to get into fly fishing and the gear you need to have to give the sport a go. One of the best things with people s personal sites I find is when they add there advice, especially when they point out errors they feel they ve made. It s from these that we can all learn, and his pages on fly fishing basics and the gear you need are well worth a read.

There s also a good page on flys and his favorite venues which are usefully linked to further info about the venues on top of what Dave s added himself.

OVERALL 8.5/10 - verdict: An Excellent fly fishing personal site well worth a visit.
