The Fiji Islands summer run of big Yellowfin is off to a great start....

The first of the summer run of yellowfin turned up just in time for Christmas. By January, a few larger fish to 100lbs were being caught off the Coral Coast and by February the big Cow Yellowfin were showing here off Kadavu Island. The best yellowfin so far all weighing in around 175lbs.
With the summer tuna should come the big blue marlin. Expect blues to average 300Lbs with some much bigger fish to 800Lbs possible.    more ...

Free Fishing again next week on the Blackwater Lodge beats

Blackwater Lodge beat 7 – Upper Kilmurry on Wednesday, February 17.

The Lodge will once again offer free fishing from Monday Feb. 22 to Friday, Feb. 26 inclusive.

The river is in superb fly order. We’re still waiting for our first springer to be caught, but are seeing some fresh fish running through every day.

This was the Blackwater below the Lodge at 4pm yesterday – December 6. The temperature never rose above -2°C all day.
Hopefully the weather will be kinder in the run-up to the Opening Day of the 2011 Season on February 1st.
